When Paint Correction Comes First
A coating protects and preserves the finish beneath it — it does not repair it. Swirl marks from automatic tunnel washes, wash-induced scratches, haze, and light oxidation stay visible under a coating, and dark-colored paint shows every one of them in direct sunlight.
Where the paint warrants it, Pearl's recommends paint enhancement or a correction step before installation. Where it does not, decontamination and preparation are enough and we say so.
What the Install Site Needs
- Room to walk fully around the vehicle and open every door
- A clean, dry, covered space such as a suitable garage or enclosed bay
- Steady lighting so the paint can be inspected properly
- A controlled surface temperature — not a hot panel in direct sun
- Protection from rain, dust, and airborne contamination

Realistic Results and Ongoing Care
What a coating does
Adds depth and gloss, makes water and road film bead and release, resists UV exposure and chemical contamination, and makes routine washing considerably easier — which matters on vehicles collecting I-71/75 road film, winter brine, and brake dust.
What it does not do
It does not make paint scratch-proof, rock-chip-proof, or maintenance-free, and it does not protect against damage from improper washing. Coated vehicles still need hand washing with coating-safe products, prompt removal of salt, sap, and bird droppings, and — for registered warranties — annual inspections within the required timeframe.
